Lucy Dacus Chicago Concert reviews
I couldn't hear Bert!
My 14 year old daughter enjoyed the show with Lucy Dacus. The show, in my opinion, was just okay. The actors were good but not showcased well. The spoken word portions often had muddled sound, resembling Jack In The Box more than a Broadway production. Onstage, the lighting was consistently dim with spotlights on the actors, breaking the immersive experience. "Playing The Game" was a creepy song, according to both my daughter and me, about mistreating toys. Lucy and Bert were portrayed exceptionally, carrying the show. Mrs. Brill's performance as the family cook was also a highlight. Gammage is always a pleasant venue to visit, aside from the frustrating parking situation. ASU should consider making show night parking free or allowing for prepaid metered parking to avoid interruptions during intermission.
